Robert Young Marathon Man UK (London, Great Britain) Born 18 October 1982 is a British Extreme endurance runner who specialized in ultra distance running. With a total of 94 Marathon and ultra race wins. == Early Years == Young's father was abusive and made his life a living hell. As a young child he witnessed some terrible things. These include the sexual assault of his sister, the torture of his mother and even the killing of the family dog 〔(Mail - the abuse at the hands of a father ).〕 Rob himself was not spared, being tortured on a daily basis.〔(Marathon Man UK background ).〕 At about aged 8 Young was put into an Orphanage before being fostered at aged 12. After leaving school and on completion of his A-levels aged 17 Young entered the British Army, Royal Corps of Signals where he would served for five and a half years. During that time young found his feet within the sporting world and went onto representing Great Britain at Junior level in Biathlon (run-swim-run)and was also selected for the GB junior duathlon team. In the end he focused on the triathlon and represented GB (age group 20-24) winning 2004 European Long Distance triathlon Bronze Medal in Immenstadt, Germany . After leaving the British Army Young tried his luck on the cycling circuit for a while before he gave up all sport to become a family man. This prompted a move to London where he got a regular job managing a motor parts company. Soon after his daughter Olivia was born. A few years later and after splitting with his partner Young went on to meet Joanna. Today they are engaged with a son called Alexander-Lui still living in London. In 2014 Young quit his job and started running full-time and hasn't stopped. Through pushing himself to his physical limits, Robert Young also known as Marathon Man UK has also become ‘a person of special scientific interest’ to Dr Courtney Kipps and his colleagues Bruce Paton and Phil Hennis at the ISEH all stating Rob Young’s ability to run marathons day after day is astonishing.
